The food comes pretty quickl so if you're hungry, you'll be eating in no time. They hand you two paper menus and pencils-just check-off your selections and hand it to the server. They also have a nice selection of other dishes for you to try (soups, seaweed salad, tempura fish & vegetables, etc) but if you're not a fan of sushi, I'm not sure why you would come here. They serve quality, tasty sushi that is artfully presented on platters. Be warned, this restaurant is loud and noisy and you can expect to wait 20 mins or longer if you arrive prime time (6:30 - 8:00pm) on Friday or Saturday nights but it's worth the wait. Parking in Somerville can be tough but there is plenty of free space at the parking deck a 1/2 block away. We come to this BYOB quite a bit and have always been pleased with the food and service. I would absolutely recommend the Sushi Palace to family and friends. We never felt rushed which was a good thing. The food was amazing and the waitresses work hard filling the orders and clearing away the empty plates. By the time we finished the line was out the front door. Because we arrived by 6pm on a Friday night in lent, we beat the rush so we were able to be seated right away. Upon entering there is a small vestibule and then walking to the right, you are greeted by a large fish tank with giant gold fishes swimming around along with a unique gray fish with what looks like a large brain tumor on top. However the history behind it is that it was formally a bank and the vault door still present inside the restaurant on the left hand side. If you weren't looking for it, you may just pass it by. From the exterior, it is a very unassuming but nice looking building. Where else can you have all you can eat fresh sushi for $20.95 weekday and $22.95 on weekends and holidays. This restaurant is a regular stop for them because not only is the food delicious but you get an amazing bang for your buck. My brother Bert and sister-in-law Maria treated me to dinner tonight at the Sushi Palace.
